Well the Sonnet G4 made my computer really unstable (I didn't do the Mac OS 9 thing, since
  • I don't want to have to go through that hassle everytime I have to reinstall
  • and I left my ADB mouse at my moms from when I was there

So I am now getting a G4
  • Dual 1.25GHZ G4
  • Radeon 9000 64MB
  • 768MB RAM
  • 160GB HD
  • SuperDrive
  • ComboDrive
  • 56K Modem

THis will also make loaning my Beige G3 to the band I am working for easier, since the Beige will only be better in RCA, and video out (Radeom ME). I also will move my 120GB from the Beige to the G4. So much for having a ZIP on thenew Mac

So should I place the order?

What speed? The new 1.25Ghz G4?

I think you should try to jump for a refurb'd DUAL 1.25Ghz if possible...read the thread here on the front page called "G4 Dullie Update" for a ton of info. from actual users

A few questions

If I am correct the G4 can natively boot Mac OS 9?
Can I use my Plaintalk mic from my Beige with it (I heard on some Mac's it doesn't work)
How easy is it to install my slave drive from my Beige in the G4? and the cable has slave support already?

Anyone have one? IHave any photo's of it? esp the inside? any advice about this Mac?

First off, if you're spending $3,000 on a G4, you're not too smart...get a G5 for that much.

It's simply to install extra drives into the G4's, and instructions come in the manual. Yes, the new ones boot into OS 9 and come w/ both OS's on a single DVD.

The cost including extra RAM and .Mac is 3,117 before tax, Canadian. for that price I couldn't have gotten the base G5 with the min acceptable config (RAM, 250GB HD), bluetooth).

If I have OS 9 booting, then it will make it easier to loan my Beige to the band manager (and get his family converted to Mac).

Do you have any photo's of your G4? I want to see Photo's to keep myself sane.

Well I placed the order earlier today. Now I have a 7-10 Day wait (business?) for the store I got it from to get it in. This is going to be hell. At least my Beige G3 is fast for some things.
