Well Thursday I placed my order for a DP 1.25GHZ G4, 768MB RAM (Kingston), SuperDrive/Combo Drive, 160GB HD.

Now I have to wait until 9/26+ shoppng time. Well the following Friday I go away again for my monthly excile. So either it will arrive at the store ordered it from 1-2 dayas before I leave which means I will have little time to play with it before I leave, OR it will arrive after I leave. The store chose standard shipping since overnght was $60!

I am starting to go stur crazy, so to help me keep sane, can I see your pictures of your MDD's? esp of you recieving them opening the box etc? Also insides Pictures would be nice.

Thanks all.

I wish I had a camera to show off my boring set up at school, but really I have a question for everyone and more specifically for DBvader, what kind of burner did you get and what types fit. I know I can in theory use any standard drive I mean which ones have narrow enough trays to fit through the slot? thanks in advance

AssassyN, do you find that the Dual 1.25 GHz machine is a little, a lot, or a hell of a lot faster then your 1 GHz PowerBook?

I may be upgrading from my 1 GHz PowerBook to hopefully a Dual 1.42, but if not then a 1.25.

I won't lie, but surprisingly, it's a heck, lol, of a lot faster than my 1Ghz 17" PB. I mean, they feel like different CLASSES of machines...there's that much difference. Playing UT 2003, UT, SoF II, Quake III, RtCW, etc. all at max res. w/ maxed details floors me...I'm even seeing something really cool...while playing online, I consistently get lower pings and faster connection times than my roomie's Dell P4 3Ghz, 1GIG RAM WinXP machine, and we're on the exact same uni. connection...I'm betting the Dual processors split the gaming & networking, thus making my connection faster, which rocks in deathmatches.

I have no idea how crazy fast a Dual 1.42Ghz would be like, but honestly, if you can nab a new Dual 1.25Ghz, you will not be dissapointed. The new Dual 1.25Ghz MDD's have 2MB of L3 cache per proc. compared to the last lineups 1MB per proc, which is actually a pretty big deal. All the refurb. Dual 1.42s I've seen are upwards of ~$2,000+, while refurb Dual 1.25s are selling for around ~$1,300...for the $700 difference, I say get the Dual 1.25, MAX the RAM (I've got 2GB, and I wouldn't have it any other way...all Kingston btw) and up the video card to a GeForce 4 Ti...I'm so thrilled man, each day after I do HW I hit up deathmatches for hours, because on the Cinema display, at these frame rates, life is just soo good.
