I bought the Harmoni upgrade for my iMac, but apparently it needs to have an original processor board (NOT mobo... but just the small processor card). The site never mentioned that and no one on this board I found mentioned that either... And since I have the Newertech 466 (I upgraded to that 3 years ago), that doesn't do me any good... Does anyone know where I could get a 233imac processor card cheap? Or is there anyone I could borrow it from? I'll pay for shipping... Also, I sold the 466 so I could buy the Harmoni... I guess I was spoiled with Newertech since they didn't require an install for the card to work...

I've seen bondi-blue imac mobos and processors cards go for less than $20 on ebay. Any chance you can borrow someone's card? I'd trade you my old one for the newertech466.

The upgrade requires the original CPU card to copy the boot rom from the old card to the upgrade. The newer tech card would have done the same. Wouldn't it just copy the boot rom again or does their software specifically LOOK for an original CPU card?

Have you even tried?

No... the newertech was native... I think they either safely OC'ed the 233 or they grafted a new one on the daughtercard so it didn't need a boot rom code. I was lucky to find a 233 iMac at my IT department (total dumb luck)... so I played a bit of switcheroo and my new harmoni is kicking some ass... :)
