I have a MDD on order, and as seen here, I have my beige G3 in a cabnit under my desk. The back of it is off, so there's about 3 inches of space at the back. the front has a door. will leaving the door closed (for noise reasons) be ok? My Beige will be sititng beside my water tank so that will be load enough (full time server for my personal site and other things).

Water tank? you must have a very crowded place. Geez.

I don't reccomend it. At least on the quicksilvers a LOT of the airflow comes out the bottom left, if you block that the fans speed up and it gets rather warm.

On the MDD the issue is no different, as the main vent is STILL on the bottom (for cold air, of course), which means that you'll want to have an inch or three on either side.

Besides that if you stick it in the cabinet any noise you'd loose by buffering it with the fake wood is only going to be lost when the fans kick into full blast because the machine can't get proper ventillation.

Point? you'll want it good on the back, but good on the sides. IF the table has 3" of clearance between the back of the desk itself and the wall then you might be fine. If the G4 can sit in there with at least an inch to spare on the left and right, then you're ok, if not.. then I wouldn't reccomend it.

well I have a DP MDD in my dorm and last year I had it on the floor under my desk and it kept my legs nice and warm since the hot air couldn't escape. this year I have it on my desk (not b/c of the heat but so everyone can see it) and I can tell that the fans don't spin up as much, also if u have a lot of wires plugged into the back use something to move them off to the side so they don't block the vents either.

I am very tight for space, and it would sit on my desk, except that I have my big speakers there.

I also need to think about montior length, the tower will have 3 inches clearance on each side in there and 6+ in the back and the desk is about 3 inches from the wall
