Uh.. Soon!

But what I want to know is "Is the 1Gz eMac faster than the new 1GHz iMac?"

Since the introduction of the iMac and eMac, Apple has been delaying the release of eMac updates in relation to iMac updates, I believe in order to keep emac prices low and to better develop the imac market. This policy is further complicated by motorola's apparent incapacity to produce new and inexpensive processors in an acceptable time frame. The last lineup was absurd, with the 1ghz eMac benchmarking significantly faster than the iMac 1ghz, despite the iMac's inflated price tag and implementatoin of DDR memory. At least now it appears that you "get what you pay for". I'd expect to see eMac updates no sooner than 2-3 months from now.

The last eMac was released in May so we might not see a speed bump until November or even later. I'm trying to get my office to buy me a mac before the end of the year and a refreshed eMac line before then would be nice.
