I just received my dual 1.25 G4 that i had ordered when apple was offering the refurb models for $1399. I had assumed it was going to be the same as the 1.25dual model currently offered new on the website, but it seems to actually be the newer model with airport extreme, fw800, etc... The system profiler does not give any pertinent info on the video card other than that it has 64MB of ram. Is it the Radeon 9000 that was included in this model or is something else?

Good surprise!

It's indeed a ATI Radeon 9000 64MB card.

it was a good surprise except that it meant i had purchased the wrong airport card! i had to run the store to pick up an extreme card, but i'll just return the one i got though.

Well in all honesty, it could be a BAD surprise, depends on your needs. To me, I'd rather have my Dual 1.25Ghz PowerMac, because these newer ones w/o FW800 have "2"MB of L3 cache per proc. compared to 1MB per proc. of the FW800 Dual 1.25s. Also, I like the ability to boot into OS 9, and since I don't use wireless networking with my tower, AirPort Extreme would do me no good. Of course, if you need FW800 & AE, and don't need OS 9, it's better for you, except of course it lacks the bigger amount of L3 cache.

hmm, yeah, that was the other thing. I though the FW800 machines didn't boot OS 9, but this one came with OS 9 preinstalled as well as 10.2.3

I never actually tried booting up in 9 and i already deleted the files (since i'll never use it) but i assume that it works if it came that way from apple ?

Nah, the FW800 machines (if in fact it IS a FW800 machine) will not BOOT into OS 9. However, it will use "Classic". The easiest way to tell for sure is check the back of your machine...does it just have 2 FW400 ports & 2 USB ports? Or is there another port, a FW800 port?

maybe it was installed then only to be used for classic. It's definately FW800.
