Greetings,

I thought with all the back and forth about cost vs performance vs first generation vs pc's that I would give my 2 cents.

I'm probably your clasic system administrator switcher. I hated macs prior to OS9. I always respected the hardware but always believed the OS was to constraining for an advanced user not to mention its design issues.

So OSX comes out and my friend has bought an Ibook. I really like it and actually dump my sony vaio and go buy me an Ibook (At the time i couldn't afford a Tibook). I've Had my Ibook now for a year, and I'm thinking its time for a new desktop actually we wanted a second one.

Being a PC user for quite some time (Former Amigan) I'm used to spending $300-1000 for a good PC, depending on what your going to do with it of course. Apples hardware had fallen behind, and I havn't been impressed. Finally the G5 comes out and I'm impressed.

The G5 is the only mac in a while I would pay what apple was asking for. It is full of the latest technology. It performs as well or out performs the fastest pcs. And best of all it runs OSX my favorite OS.

So I ordered a G5 1.8, which I later changed my mind on and coverted my order to a Dual 2.0. Which I can't wait for, still don't have it *sniff* With the G5's impressive processing abilities, and wonderful operating system I'm sure I will be more productive on it.

I considered the G4's to be honest, and I'm sure they would probably be fast enough for anything that I would do. The problem I have with them is they are old, unimpressive hardware. I can't justify even there current lower prices.

So I am here impaiently awaiting my first Mac Desktop, my Powermac Dual 2.0 G5.

By now, you should know that you're supposed to post copious quantities of pictures of your new G5 when it comes in, so those of us too broke to buy one can live vicariously through you.

When I bought my Flat Panel iMac over a year ago, I ordered it within a few days after the keynote. Yet, people who ordered theirs a few weeks later still got theirs first. It happens sometimes.
