I disconncted my power supply from my Power Mac G4 Quicksilver machine because I was originally going to sell it. Now I am keeping it and when I put it back in the machine, does it matter which power plugs go where? (i.e. for the optical drive, hard drive, etc)?

Thanks!

The HD and CD-ROM power connectors are the same. It won't matter which gets connected to which. You might want to check the length I assume one is longer than the other.

Why did you dismantle your powermac? Would you get more money selling the parts?

I don't have experience with Mac power supplies (yet), but optical drives and hard drives use the same 4 pin Molex connectors. It doesn't matter which you use, they're all the same. On the Mac, the only connector that's different from what I've see is the motherboard connector, and that should be blatantly obvious!

Ahh, ok, thanks for the replies!

I was going to originally part out the whole machine except for the case, and then I decided to sell the case too, then at the last moment I decided to keep the case. I currently now have a power supply, logic board, and CD-RW drive.

Tomorrow I will be ordering a hard drive, RAM, and graphics card. And when my laptop sells I will get the processor and 20" Cinema display.
