Should I buy RAM heatsinks for my RAM going into the G5 or have I been brainwashed and duped from the PC world?

Do not buy heatsinks for your RAM. Even in the PC worls, heatsinks for RAM are basically useless. Save your money and buy more RAM.

Heat dissipation is a factor in higher speed RAM.

Alot of the better quality RAM come with heatsinks/heatspreaders anyway.

RAM heatsinks appear to be good Marketing, and little real benefit. Take a look at the three links below for the anwers you seek -

heatsinks for RAM are only worth it if you are overclocking and maybe not even so.

On a regular mac... a waste of money.

As opposed to an...irregular mac?

Anyway, like I said, alot of the higher speed RAM being sold nowadays already come with heatsinks. I bought a couple of sticks of PC3200 400mhz DDR RAM for $71 each a couple of months ago and they came with heatspreaders. If you want to buy the RAM and take the heatsinks off, go ahead.
