I have several dogs who have their own door into acreage (nice huh?) But they track in A LOT of detritus and I become inceasingly concerned as to what/how much is being sucked into the machine. Is there any simple way to clean it out?

Probably not without taking it apart.

I don't have the confidence to take it apart, but would it not be a wise investment to have done after more than 1 year considering my circumstances? Or is this less of a factor to it's good health than I imagine. There doesn't seem to be a lot out there on this maintainance issue, so I really don't know if this is a valid concern or overthink.

I never really think about dust; my CPUs change often enough that this is not a problem. This is about to change, as my new-born daughter is interfering with the money flow.
