Dunno if this is the right forum, but here goes...
I'm thinking about switching from my dual 800 to a new iMac 1.25ghz. The dual is speedy enough for my needs, but I would like an lcd and superdrive (I BTO'ed mine out) while spending as little as possible. I also love the iMac form factor. My only worry is that the iMac will be slower that what I am currently used to. What do you guys think?

You are making a big mistake! The iMac without a backside cache (2 MB) is more like a 933 machine with a 2 MB backside cache. The dual equation even makes it more obvious. Don't do it. Just go out and by a DVD burning for $200 and you will have a superdrive. And the LCD quality on a purchased LCD is much better than that on the iMac. Don't do it!!!!!

Try one in the store and if it is fast enough for you then go for it. Buying an LCD and a superdrive separate can cost a fortune.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so finding one in a store is gonna be almost impossible. Plus, the ones in store never have enough ram. I ran my dual 800 on one processor for a while and for the most part didn't notice a difference.
