Sorry if this is not the appropriate forum:

I have an acquaintance who just started school at the University of Florida. He is running a Dual 1.25 machine with the latest version of OSX.

The problem is that he is not able to access the university network for the last two weeks. Of course the help desk has been little help. Here is what I know.

The systems are setup to provide an IP via DHCP. The users must then enter a student ID and Password to gain access to services.

He is able to get a valid IP, but has not been able to connect to the page to enter his student ID and password. I can't help him beyond normal network processes and I am afraid he will go back to PC.

Do we happen to have any Gators in the house?

I'm assuming he lives in the dorms? When I was living in the dorms there, about 3 years ago now, you did not have to login to get services (access to libraries, Lexis-nexis, etc.). As I recall loging in was only required if you were off campus and had to use a proxy server. Maybe they changed it, what services in particular is he trying to us?

Call the campus helpdesk.
Keep doing that until he gets the help he needs.

If he is using Safari or Mozilla or a similar web browser to log into the network, he may have to disable popup blocking. I know I have to do so in order to log into most online banking sites.
