My 500mhz TiBook is starting to slow down and i've been thinking about getting a new machine for about 6 months.

Can anyone who has a G5 comment about how normal operational performance is in the slow-as-molasses apps like Adobe Illstrator and Macromedia Fireworks?

I don't really care about applying filters, for how infrequent i do it, i'll wait a few more seconds, but when moving around the pasteboard in Illustrator, i can't stand the LAG anymore.

I know this is probably the wrong place for this but: if you also have another newer machine like an iBook or 1ghz powerbook, could you also let me know how graphic apps perform?

I think RAM will help the most. It is hard for someone to say what is fast. I think fireworks is fast on a 733MHz computer. You might not.
