Which Macs will NOT boot in OS 9?
Refresh my memory.

My insurance company is buying me a new
Mac to replace one destroyed by lightning.
I need native OS 9 for Unreal Tournament.

The ONLY new Mac you can buy right now that WILL boot into OS 9 is the G4 PowerMacs (single/dual 1.25Ghz) sold on Apple.com. HOWEVER, there's a great OS X Beta patch out for Unreal Tournament right now that I use all the time and it runs UT in OS X flawlessly. And, Eric Gordon is working on an official UT for OS X patch right now and it should be out within a few months. Grab a G5 if you can man

EDIT: BTW, the patch is here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6369

The only machines in Apple's current lineup that can boot into OS 9 are:

• All models of iBooks.
• All eMacs that do not have a SuperDrive (e.g. combo drive).
• The 1.25GHz PowerMac G4 (including dual configuration).

Recently discontinued Macs that could boot OS 9 are:

• The 15" Titanium PowerBooks
• The first-generation MDD machines (NOT the FW800 models as incorrectly stated in a previous message).
• First generation flat-panel iMacs (700 and 800MHz)

Hi

I have UT '436' on my machine here and it runs fairly well in classic. I should think on a newer, faster machine it would be fine........?

That OSX patch sounds like it needs some work.

Cheers

That beta OS X patch doesn't even work for some, but it works flawlessly (for real) for me...give it a shot!

Well, I got a new single processor 1.25 GHz Mac. I can't get it to boot off of the OS 9 drive. OS X works fine and it can boot the Classic environment within OS X.
