Hello ...


While waiting for my "on or before date" to slip from 9/23 to who-knows-when, I got to wondering:

When does AppleCare activate? At the time of ordering (now a quarter of a year ago --which is one-eighth of the "extended time" the warranty covers-- possibly longer), or at the time of shipping?

(I'm trying not to think about the fact that my Cinema Display --which I can't currently use-- shipped right away and probably triggered the AppleCare warranty activation.)


It may not seem like a big deal now, but if three years down the road, the display (or the G5 itself, being a rev. A, after all ) tanks, those extra three-plus months could take on a whole new significance.


What exactly is the policy here?

It at least doesn't start until the machine ships, but possibly not until you "register" the machine or receive it. Be sure to call Apple when you get it to make sure.

You have to manually register AppleCare and you can't do it w/o the serial # of your exact machine, thus, it doesn't "start" or "activate" until YOU register it after you get your machine.
