Can you install the Bluetooth option after the fact on your G5?

Or do you HAVE to BTO it? Is it just that plug in the back or is there something Apple installs internally also?
I am wondering because I want to get a G5 soon but I hear BTO's are taking forever. I rather walk into a store and pick it up, then get the bluetooth adapter at the same time or at a later date.
Thanks

If you don't BTO the bluetooth module you cannot have it internally after the fact, you will have to get the dlink dongle.
The only thing is you'll have to use one of your usb ports, or if you have a Cinema Display you can use the usb port on the back of it.
I didn't get the bluetooth module for two reasons, first I forgot to order it and found out I'd go to the end of the line for G5 orders, (they would have to cancel my existing order) and second the dongle allows me to remove it and use it on another computer.
For me it wasn't worth it to wait, the dlink dongle should work fine though.

Nope, it's a BTO-only option. If you don't order it BTO, your only other option is a 3rd-party USB Bluetooth adapter that takes up one of your USB ports. It's an adapter built onto the motherboard, thus it's BTO only.

Why, can't you call Apple and have them send you one or something...
Is it built onto a board or something?

I have the DLink dongle on the back of my ACD and BT works great. The keyboard/mouse is a little slow to recognize when waking up from sleep. One caveat about having the DLink is that the BT keyboard/mouse does not wake up the PM (at least not for me).

I seem to recall that someone on this board talked to a provider about getting it as a service part (the only way that Apple will sell the adapter other than with a Mac.) IIRC, they wanted ~$200 for it..

I saw the Apple wireless Mouse and Keyboard at an Apple store last weekend. They literally say on their boxes that they work with the D-Link USB-Bluetooth adaptor.

I have an iMac that like to wake up when I hit a key on the keyboard.
I have to click the mouse several times to wake it up that way.

I've looked into this issue since the new g5's have come out.
I work at an Apple reseller. The parts you need are the bluetooth module itself, and the antenna to attach at the back. Both will cost around 150CDN + installation at whatever dealer you take it to.
Kinda weird since the BTO option is only $80CDN

I did not order built in BT originally with my dually. After the great delay of 8/29, I called Apple to see if I could add BT and NOT impact the delay of my order. They said "yes".
Here I sit with my BT dually (delivered today, woohoo!) and it has BT...

The problem is they mean the NEWER d-Link adapter.
