Apple has a cool little $19 adapter for the G5 that uses the open DVI port (if you are using an ADC display). I picked one up today and it is a short 2 inch DVI cable with a little white box at the end that has both a composite and S-video out jack. When hooked up it you can use it to mirror or have multiple desktops.

It has options for either outputting in NTSC (800x600, 1024x768 @ 60Hz) or PAL(800x600, 1024x768 @ 50Hz). It is well worth the money and is plug and play (like I had to say that right?).

You can find it at the Apple store under Apple accessories and is called the "DVI to Video Adapter". It looks similar to the other ones they have for the laptops but I haven't seen Apple offer this on tower before.

Thanks for the info! I just ordered a G5 and I was planning on getting one of these.

I have a few questions. Does it just mirror whatever is showing on your ADC monitor or does it act as a second display? Also, do you have to set your ACD display to 800x600 or 1024x768 first before you can use it? Finally, how do you configure what resolution it will output? Thanks!

You set it independently though either the displays icon in the menu-bar (you get a second set of rez choices below the primary display) or in the displays preference pane. Mirrored or as second display both work.

When plugged in your main display will blink and the new display automatically just shows up as a new desktop to the right side of you old display. I had my dock on the right side of my 20" CD and it disappeared off to the side on the new display so I put it on the left.
