WOW this thing is fast and loud and hot (litterly).
the bad news is it is identical to my Beige G3 other then the new keyboard you can't tell I am on a new Mac.
16x ripping speed for AAC 320kbps is nice. along with 80fps in iTunes!!! That's at slower but smoother.

Loving my dualie, too.
I'm surpirsed to hear that yours is loud. I have the FW800 model and the computer is pretty quiet - much, much quieter than my Sawtooth.
Have fun

Many congrats. BTW, if your Mac is loud could it be that you have one of the older Fw400 models that dual boots into OS9 or is yours the FW800 model that is OSX only?
I have heard that the DP 1.25 is louder in OS9 than OSX. Have you noticed a difference?

same mouse, same user account, same setting, same monitor.
and the fans come on sometimes when it's doing nothing, I also got it in a cupboard below my desk where my Beige sat)
I got the old model BTO from Apple. haven't even seen OS 9 yet. Apple is selling the DP 1.25GHZwith 2MB L3 cache, 4x SuperDrive and OS 9 booting.

You might want to take it OUT of the "cupboard"....it's probably getting too hot in there hence the fans cycling...I had to move my Dual 1.25 FW800 out from under my desk to along side of it to allow for better ventilation...good luck!

I don't have any other space for it. Where my beige is now is a but far from my desk. Also the back is off, so there's airflow back there.
