hi all... i recently acquired my first Powermac (thanks Maflynn!) and am wondering whether i should upgrade the disk subsystem or not... the unit has the stock ATA IDE interface w/ an 80GB 7200rpm drive attached. i just happen to have a small pile of SCSI hardware that i came into for *free* recently, and am wondering whether i would realize a discernable performance increase by switching the system from IDE to SCSI for all hard disks... i've got an Adaptec 29160 PCI adapter, and a a few Seagate Barracuda 68-pin disks, all 10k rpm drives and all a couple years old (2-3 years?), in sizes of 18GB, 36GB and 50GB.

now, i know on some platforms great performance increases can be gained across the board when switching to pure SCSI, but i am pretty new to the Mac scene and wanted to check w/ those more learned about this, and any caveats that i don't know about regarding Mac's and SCSI subsystems...

...if any here could offer some advice or pointers about whether i should go ahead and sink a lot of time into converting this dual QS to SCSI, your input and time would be greatly appreciated, thx in advance to all..!
