For all of you out there still waiting for your Dual G5 be aware that quite a few Apple stores u.s.wide have received a decent stock of them.

If you are in the L.A. area, last I check (earlier today) the Glendale, Pasadena, and L.A. Grove stores had them in stock. An Apple rep. in the Pasadena store told that even though they were selling these screamers pretty quickly, they had about a 2 week supply (her guess).

Just a heads up.

Of course, the problem with going this road is that you have to get a stock machine.

Yeah, you get the stock machine, but you can avoid apple ripping you off for your ram. A 1 gig chip from apple costs 500, when you can get double that ram at ramjet for the same cost. I got mine at a the shorthills apple store in NJ. The only thing i need now is someone to release a high end vid card..not the 9800 pro, but something more akin to 3d modeling.

what are you talking about jango ? Ordering from the online Apple store does not mean you must get their ram ! But then you get things like BT installed and other stuff which you cannot get later, or does not make sense to get later

Ok I had to stop in to the Apple store for something for work. I asked if they had any Dual G5s in stock. They had them on display of course and they are very sweet. First guy says no, then maybe. Second guy says no but then goes and looks and he has one. Uh oh decision time. My order nearly stock except I had bluetooth. So if you read my recent rant on bluetooth it was an easy decision.

I said I'll take it, pull up my Apple Loan account and buy it! Wahoo! Of course this was on my lunch break so I havn't got to use it yet.

I am the proud owner of a Stock Dual G5 + Apple Care + Final Cut Express. I came back to the office and canceled my online order

Hurray!

I purchased my new dual G5 last night at the Tysons Corner store in Virginia. So far I'm very pleased... didn't worry much about BTO options, I can just add more RAM and another drive later. So far I love it!

Yep. C4d XL 7 user here. Would love to see some good OpenGL solutions available.

I'm even thinking to going to a homebuilt PC just to get a nice video card. With C4d it does not matter too much, as the UI is practically the same on wither platform.
