hello

a friend have a green imac, i dunno the specifications, but is a first generation imac, the green one.

He has OS 8.5 installed in it but he want to install Jaguar. The question is: how he can do that.

I tell him to install first OS 9.2 but he has a message that the cd rom is obsolete.

so... what he need to do??

First of all...it's Lime, not green.

and second. It's probably a firmware issue. Make sure all of that is up to date and stuff, then retry.

It will work fine, you just have to do the firmware update which is explained in this forum (do a search). It includes resetting the p-ram with a paperclip at somepoint.

Also..make sure it has at least 128 megs of ram for osX.

I have 10.2.5 running on a green imac..(oh excuse me..I mean lime) and it works just fine!

Ya know..he could be talking about the Rev A Bondi...because from where I'm sitting, and in this light, it does appear Green not Blue.

He did say the "first generation..."

And yeah the guy is from Mexico. No right to bash him. He speaks better English than many native US born peeps.

It could also be a 'Sage' iMac.

Remember when Apple launched 4 new colours - White, Ruby, Indigo and Sage.

The used the 'Muppet' song "It's not easy being green" on the ads.

Not if it has OS 8.5 on it; the Sage (summer 2000) iMacs shipped with OS 9. It's probably a "lime" green Rev C (266 MHz); those shipped with 8.5.1.
