I was at a local electronics store last night who are authorized Mac resellers and they told me that they sell the Applecare warranty package and allow customers to bring the machine back to them to fix. If they can't fix it within 3 attempts, they will replace it. The salesman also told me that in regards to pixel burn-outs on the LCD of the iMac that Apple only covers that if there are five in a row burned out on the LCD! Is this true? I couldn't believe it!

Of course he said his company covers any/all dead pixels.

Thanks!

Get what he said in writing, on his company's letterhead, with a company officer's signature, because there is nothing in AppleCare that says Apple will fix it if they can't repair it after three tries! As far as the pixel issue, have him show you Apple's official documentation on what Apple covers; it varies by screen size and model. Also get in writing his company's policy that they cover any/all dead pixels. Then go to another store to buy your iMac, because he won't give you any of these documents.

But is it true that Applecare covers only dead pixels that are in a sequence of five or more? This is for the new 17", 1.25Ghz G4 iMac.

I'm asking anyone with a 17" iMac and Applecare.

Thanks
