My dual 1.25, the quiet one, has become an annoyance. I need a strategy to tone it down. I commented about this issue when I purchased the machine in February. I was so happy to have it I obviously went into denial and accepted Apple's statements no fix was needed. Well the bloom is off the rose and I need relief. Is it the power supply or the fan? Does apple offer a strategy for FW800 series? I can hear my machine not only from the next room but downstairs well away from my precious mac..
Geez Louise is that your friggin' Mac piercing my skull? Outside of a insulated case with DVD
slots what can I do? Please don't recommend a new G5, that is not an option!

Mine 'chugs' occasionally when it gets warm... but its only occasional... I can live with it... I think its the power supply fan. I moved it forward on my desk this morning, a little further from the wall, and I havnt heard it get louder since...

Other than that, i dunno!

My Dual 1.25 at work is VERY quite. About the same as my Dual G5.

Did you get the fan replacement?
