My Quicksilver's got an nVidia Geforce 4 Ti. I've got the Dual 2.0 coming next week. Didn't want to splurge the extra 3bucks on the 9800 Pro. Wanted to but funds determined my decision.

Would the new 9600 Pro in there outperform the 4Ti? I'm thinking not but... I know the Titanium's got 128MB VRAM but it's still just a 4x card. I'm under the assumption that the ATI's an 8x. Anyone who know please let me know or who can point to the resource that compares the two.

The 9600 will outperform your GF4Ti, but not by a ton. If you want to use FSAA or AF, though, the 9600 is a MUCH faster card.
Be happy.

Despite the memory differerence, you definitely want to use the 9600 Pro. It should be faster and has more features.

Depends on whether you're a gamer or not. If you are, the Radeon 9600 will be a lot faster in most games and a tad faster in some games - but definitely faster overall.
If you are not then you won't notice a difference in Mac OS X at all.

Your Geforce4ti will not work in your new G5. The ADC connection to the motherboard has been redesigned.

ADC? AGP connection I guess. To me it seems that they have the same type, just that since the lobo's on the back of the box rather than the front door, it's flipped, hence making the ADC monitor connection on the outside opposite of what it's been for the past 3 years of G4s.

But, yes I am a gamer when time permits. Design and other tech work keeps me humble, though he new 5 will boost my logged game time.

Now to sell the QS with the Titanium
