Hi, I just ordered a Power Mac G5 (yay! ), but I unfortunately will only be able to hook it up to a VGA input on a Viewsonic LCD panel for the first few months of use. I know it comes with a DVI to VGA adapter, but that's only for a second monitor, right? Or can I use the DVI output only (with the adapter)? It will be an ATI Radeon 9600 (I think) that comes with the Dual G5.
If you could let me know how that works, or if I'll have to buy an ADC->VGA adapter, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Jared

The DVI->VGA doesn't have to be for a second monitor. All I have is one monitor and it's connected to the DVI->VGA converter that came with the G5.
However, if you want to use another vga monitor you could get an ADC to VGA video adapter here: http://www.griffintechnology.com/pro...ers/index.html
Good luck.

No, you can use it as your main monitor.
If you want to run two VGA monitors, Dr Bott sells the ADC->VGA adapter.

The adapter works with the DVI port, you needn't use the ADC port at all. The two ports (ADC and DVI) both can be the "primary display" port and the other the secondary. Most dual display Macs won't care which you consider primary and secondary or at least that's the best I understand it.
