Just out of interest I wonder which one is selling the best, my guess is the 1.8.

Why did you decide on that model?

Yup, I got the Dual 2.0 GHz because I want a machine that will last me quite a few years, and also, it comes with the extra holes on the front of the case as well....

From all that I've read. the results sound about right. I think there would be more 1.8s sold if they were DP. The 2.0 is more than I need, but I can't see buying a single processor machine to run OS X on.

I bought a 1.8 GHz G5 since I don't do any heavy encoding, and for day to day use you'll never notice a difference between the models otherwise (including games).

And for the $600 I saved by getting the 1.8 Ghz, I was able to upgrade it w/ a Radeon 9600 Pro, add 512 MB of RAM (Crucial) and buy a 17" Samsung 172T LCD.

Plus I won't feel like I blew a ton of money when my computer is no longer "top of the line."

Not true.. I don't do ANY heavy encoding but I do have lots of apps open at the same time and they eat little bits of CPU in the background.

With 2 chips swiching between apps is SMOOTH as silk and if I did want to ajust something in Photoshop it can use all of one chip and leave the other for background apps.

I think the poll results confirm what Apple has been saying all along about the huge demand for the dual G5 (albeit with a very small sample thus far). The results are almost exactly what I thought was the case - 60% duals, 25% 1.8's and 15% 1.6's. This is why the duals were delayed not so much the VT supercluster. It's tough when 75% of your fastest CPU's (the dual G5's need 2 chips for each machine don't forget) have to go into shipping machines when they have the lowest production yields. I'm thrilled at the idea that developers can look at sales of the G5 line and see duals so dominant when deciding on smp support in future apps. It will do good things for the entire Mac commmunity in the future.

Huh? What extra holes? Or am I just not getting a joke this early in the morning?
