For the last couple of weeks I've been getting a rash of applications unexpectedly quiting. After attempting to upgrade to 10.2.8 the other day my computer would not boot. I get out the Jaguar CD to attempt to revert to an earlier version but the install hangs. The drive utility claims the HD is OK. I dig out the hardware test cd and the memory test fails. I remove the memory I have in the user slot and the test still fails.

So I decide to try a some new memory in the Apple slot. After installing a PC 133 512 MB stick in the Apple slot my iMac won't boot. I get a long solid tone, no gray screen, and the LED blinks. I put the original 256 MB sim back in the slot and I can start the computer. Is the 15" 800 MHz picky about what ram it will accept? Is there some trick I'm missing?
