So I decided to sell my Powerbook G4 1ghz and buy a G5 dual 2.0. My job gave me a Centrino laptop for development/design work, so I figured having two laptops is overkill. Given that, I decided on a nice PowerMac G5 2ghz for the house. I picked up the standard config. You know, the one with the Radeon 9600 card and 160gig HD. I splurged a little and picked up a 20" Apple Cinema Display as well. Hey, I used my educational discount, so what the heck!
Anyways, the machine rocks. All of you who own one already know that. I am a hardcore gamer, but my p4 system hasn't been touched since I picked up the G5 (which was 6 days ago). I played UT2003 with acceptable framerates at 1680x1050. It wasn't as fast as my PC, which has a Radeon 9700 Pro card, but I was impressed nontheless, especially playing widescreen. I wish my PC had a 20" Apple Cinema Display connected to it. =)
I installed the latest Panther RC and fell in love with Mac OS all over again. I can't wait for my retail copy to arrive. EXPOSE is AWESOME!
Problem is, I don't want to sell my PowerBook now. The Dell Centrino laptop just sucks compared to my PowerBook and Mac OS 10.3, especially when I am at school. I just prefer MacOS over WindowsXP, even if the clock speed of the Dell is faster.
Anyways, I am rambling. I love both of my macs and I think I'll keep my PowerBook. I've come to the conclusion that the MacOS is the best platform for computing. My PC has officially become an supersized console.
Cheers,
Dantley.
