I absolutely adore this machine! I run DP4.1 and couldn't be happier. I've had kernal panics (which hardware test suggested was bad RAM and wtg on that RAM today), but otherwise I'm extremely satisfied. I love it's looks, I love it's performance, I love it's innards! I've designed my entire home studio around a computer CPU! It's extremely quiet, no crashes, no monitor issues, nothing but perfect performance! I got exactly what I paid for and you will too. I use PC's at work and can tell you from countless problems opening emails, JUST GET THE G5 NOW!

Great machine. And it is sooo quiet. I used to work on a Cube and was a bit anxious about the noise-level on the G5, but it turned out to be no problem at all.
I've changed the hard-drive on the Cube, and the noise it makes is actually worse then the noise from the G5
So, if some of you is worrying about the noise-levels on the G5 - don't!

That's crazy talk. I also used to have a cube, and there simply is -no- computer quieter than a cube. The Seagate SATA 160Gb in my G5 grinds like crazy.

Ya the cube is quieter cuz it has no bloody fans, not even 9 quite ones.
The G5 revs up from time to time and that chirping noise is really annoying but I think they will fix that eventually.

Just set up another switcher/friend's new dual G5 for him.
My observations:
I had never seen the G5 in person, and I was impressed when finally seeing it up close. The tolerance between the removable door and the rest of the case was amazing. The finish was perfect. The machine was quiet. Heard the hard drive occasionally and fans when starting up. Did not do any serious video editing to really push the system so I don't think we heard the higher fan speeds.
The inside of this machine is beautiful.
The bluetooth mouse and keyboard are nice, BUT: when waking from sleep, both devices take a while to wake up, like 15 to 20 seconds. Kind of annoying. I just told the owner to never put the machine to sleep, just dim the display.
It had a couple system freezes, not kernal panics, but freezes requiring holding the power button to shut down. No big deal. There was no added ram so I am not sure what that was caused by.
Got the iSight hooked up and I chatted with him today. That Steve Jobs presentation of iTunes for Windows with Bono, Dre, and Jagger must have been done with all G5 machines because the image I got on my powerbook when video chatting was the best I had seen yet with iChat.
Everything on the machines is so much faster than anything I have touched. It is quite amazing how fast the desktop feels, like application launching and switching. Panther must be amazing on a G5.
You G5 guys are lucky!
Wish they made a G5 powerbook!
