Has anybody tried to plug in a MIDI interface card to the eMac? Is there an adapter from the older style printer port plug to USB or firewire? The model eMac I'm looking at is the top one M8951.
Also is the headphone jack stereo, and is there enough power in the headphone jack to run my surround sound system.
Many thanks for any help you can offer.

I found this on a Google search. I'm sure there are more converters on the market .

I'm almost positive that you'll need an amplifier after the headphone plug on the Mac. Your surround sound system should already have this though (same as if you plug your Mac into a regular stereo 'component' system).

You will need a USB midi interface. USB to Serial port adaptors are available for attempting to use old serial port style midi interfaces, but they are notoriously bad for midi.
So best just to get a new USB midi interface. Fortunately they dont cost much anyway.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.
