A salesman at smalldog said the FW 800 doesn't suffer from the fan noise issue.

can anyone confirm this.

Is is the MDD, FW 800, 1GHZ model.

I have the FW800 MDD 1.42 dual. Very low noise output. It sounds like a diesel engine idling a long long way away.. quiet..but you can hear it if nothing else is running in the room. ( I live in a very very quit apartment)
