Hi guys

I have attached 2 17" monitors on a G4 Dual 1.25.

But I only get a picture on one of them, i.e. the one attached to the "usual" monitor socket/port/thing.

When you buy (bought?) a G4, there's a very short cable in the box for attaching a standard VGA monitor the the Mac.

I have done that. It works.

Right next to where the monitor is attached to the Mac, there is a second "outlet". I have bought an adaptor that fits on that, and another adaptor, which turms the first adaptors connector into a standard VGA-thing. And I have attached the monitor.

But no picture.

If I open the Monitor(s) control panel, I can arrange the two monitors ... when I run the "detect momnitors", nothing happens.

If I click on tyhe little monitor icon in the top bar, I can see and adjust the resolution and color depth for both monitors. ... but still no picture on the second monitor.

What did i overlook? What's missing?

I have bought adapters for the other monitor ... ont that turns the

Double adapters, there's your problem.

It sounds like you're "daisy-chaining" adapters to connect your second monitor, which is most likely the issue. If you can find a single adapter to go from the DVI-out (I assume that's the port you're trying to connect your 2nd monitor to) to VGA, or whatever connected your monitor is, then you'd be fine.

I think you are looking for an ADC to VGA adapter. Sounds like you have possibly used two adapters together(ADC to DVI then DVI to VGA). At the bottom of this page is a DR. Bott ADC to VGA Extractor which I believe is what you need.
