Has anyone tried to write in any other formats other than -R with Panther and an Apple Superdrive?

I've written DVD-R and DVD+R discs using Toast and my G5's Sony superdrive.

Apple programs like iDVD and iTunes won't support DVD+R discs however (at least according to Apple), but the Finder and Disk Utility support +R discs in Panther.

Thanks, Proton. And the Superdrive is an "R only" drive, no RW, I gather.

The Superdrive in my Dual G5, which is a Pioneer 106-something I think, writes DVD-RW without any hassles. In Toast, that is.

Haven't tried with Disk Copy, though.

The Sony superdrive (and the current Pioneer ones) should certainly support -RW and +RW. I just don't have any -RW or +RW discs to test with

Anyone successfully write a +RW disk with Panther?
Successfully play it in some other environment--a stand alone DVD player or Windows PC?

Pioneer DVR-106D that is installed in G5 is +/- R/RW drive so it should support + standard discs! I haven't tried though, as I don't have a +R/RW disc at hand.
Apple states that G5 SuperDrive is only "-" compatible. Does it need a firmware update?

I've burned +RW discs in my G5 with the 106D drive with Toast. It works just fine.
