My friend just bought a new 1 GHz eMac with a combo drive. It was a great deal. now we got it with the stock 128 MB of RAM because its cheaper to buy after-market. So I searched the eMac page and the only 'specs' i could find is that it takes PC133 SDRAM. So I went on the web, bought a brand new stick of PC133 SDRAM, 512 MB, and of coarse it didn't work. We even paid the extra $5 to have them test the ram before the shipped it. Now did they just **** up and not check, and send me bad RAM? Or is this ram somehow not compatible. I was reading something where it talked about the density of the stick, what is that all about. The page we bought it off of didn't say anything about it, but the ram itself says 64X64 on it. What's the deal with that? How can I tell what the eMac will or won't take?

where did you get this ram from? they should refund your money and if they don't they are shady. why do they need to test the ram before they send it...and charge you for it? it should just work. the emac takes 168pin, 3.3v, 7.5ns, PC-133 SDRAM. i get my ram from ramjet.com or crucial.com. i dont know what that 64x64 means??? i'd send it back and buy from somewhere else but thats me.

You bought high density RAM, it won't work with a Mac. It is often labeled 64x64 or 64x4. What you need to buy is low density ram. 8x32 for example. It's a bummer since high density ram is super cheap. The high density/low density thing is never mentioned, so people always get burned by it.
