Sucks i guess, but my aunt can't really afford an iBook right now, but she really wants one...her Bondi imac now has a dead CD drive, and we need to replace it. How much am i looking at if Apple does it? how much if i buy the part from somewhere...she's not really interested in CD-RWs...so i'm really just looking for a CD-ROM thanks alot.

I looked at xlr8yourmac.com's drive compatability database, found a CD-RW model that worked with the Bondi, and bought it on eBay for $35. It was listed as a Panasonic/Matsushita UJDA330 8x4x24x IDE Slim.
