Panther on seperate partion on iMac possibly effecting performance?

	I seem to behaving issues w/ Panther. I have an 800Mhz iMac w/ 512 RAM. There are 3 partition. System (5 gig), Users(50 gigs) and Applications (30 gigs). My problem is system is slow as a dog. My mom's iBook G3 600 seems jsut as fast, if not faster for opening programs, and what not...its almost obsurd. I've reinstalled my system afew times, both Archive and install AND clean install. My question is, are these partitions on the drive hurting Panther and the iMac's performance? thanks.
