Has anybody seen anything on future models to include an on chip memory controller like the new AMD chips?

The IBM designer was not allowed to discuss future features, but was asked about an on-die memory controller. His reply was that it would be a reasonable feature to look into, no further comment. I'll dig up the link later tonight.

Edit: link
Look in The Future section, in the orange dialog section. In the middle of the dialog section they ask about incorporating an on-die DDR memory controller.

An on-die memory controller won't be a feature until the G6. It would too much of a change for the G5. And that's if the advantages of lower latency outweigh the cost and coherency issues with on-die controllers.
