I need to get some more RAM for a Sawtooth and I have read about problems with some types of RAM. I am unsure about the density and compatibility of the RAM I found.
Can someone please fill me in and explain this info to me:

Type =SDR
DRAMFreq = 133_
Capacity MByte = 256
Bit x M = 8x16_
CL = 3
IC Vendor = Samsung
Module Vendor = AOpen_
IC No = K4S280832C-TC75
Synch Asynch = Sync._

That would be 256 MB worth of CL3 133 MHz SDRAM.

Basically, 256 MB is the size of the RAM you're buying. You generally want to buy as much as possible.

CL3 isn't really important unless you're doing very precise calculations where speed is a major issue. I'm talking about nanoseconds worth of difference. But, if you're interested, CL2 is better than CL3. Remember though that you aren't going to see or feel the difference.

133 MHz is important, as your computer needs RAM to be 100 MHz or higher. It's a bus speed, and the thing to remember here is that RAM will slow down for a computer, but will not speed up. Thus, you can use 133 MHz RAM, and not 66 MHz RAM, in a 100 MHz bus.

Finally, SDRAM is a type of RAM. Again, nothing much to worry about.

The rest of the info isn't too important.

I recommend picking up RAM from DMS. I've ordered a good chunk from them and have never had a problem. The prices are great too.

However, if you're paranoid about quality, Crucial is the way to go. It can cost more, but you're all but guaranteed to never have a problem with the RAM.

But it is though. I need to make sure it is low density since this G4 can not use high density. But nothing on that tells me which type this stick is.

8x16 is low density 256MB. 8x32 is low density 512MB. 64x64 or 64x4 is high density 512MB and will not work.
