I just purchased a new G5 1.8 with a GeForce FX 5200. I have an 17" Apple Studio Display (last one before they went to flat) ADC connection and a Gateway VX900 (19" CRT - VGA) connecting through the supplied DVI display adapter. When the mac boots up it recognizes the Gateway monitor without any problem but the Apple monitor has power but is a blank screen. I tried hooking just the Apple monitor up and I have the same problem. When I click on the Display preference in the menu bar it actually says the kind of Gateway monitor with a list of resolutions but for the Apple monitor is just says "display" with the only resolution of 640x480. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Are you running Panther? There seems to be others with this same issue on non G5 units.

Check out this thread at the kbase for updates...
