160 GB drive on G4's ATA/100 bus

I just purchased a 160GB Maxtor IDE drive for my Power Mac G4 1.25 GHz (FW800).

From what I understand, the ATA/100 bus can't handle this space, and I have to format the drive at 137 GB with some free space. Is this correct? When I connected the drive and did the default initializing, the system indicates that it has a formatted capacity of 152.7 GB.

Thanks for any help...

It'll read the whole drive.
Just format as one big partition (if you want it) and go.

The ATA-100 controller on your system can handle the larger drive sizes. I'm not sure about the ATA-66 controller on your system, many of the earlier G4 models' ATA-66 controllers were limited by the 137/128 GB barrier.
