Hey there.

My 900MHz G3 B&W upgrade just arrived this morning.

I followed the instructions for installation:

1) Unhook all cables.
2) Open machine.
3) Remove heatsink.
4) Remove original CPU.
5) Set DIP switches on new CPU card.
6) Replace original CPU with new processor.
7) Reattatch heatsink.
8) Hit CUDA button.
9) Reattatch cables.
10) Power on.

Now, the machine powers on, but there is no chime and no signal to the monitor. I've let it run for 2 or 3 minutes multiple times, nothing.

Any ideas?

The machine does work with the original CPU back in, I'm on it now.

I've sent an e-mail to PowerLogix support, but I figured I'd come here and see if anybody can help.

Thanks.

Hi!

Is this a G3 or G4 update (not sure what's available for the B/W)? G4 upgrades need a firmware patch, but I have no idea where to get it (maybe xlr8yourmac).

It's a G3.

I'd looked around to see if a patch or something needed to be installed, but have found no evidence of one.
