There is a crackling static noise that occurs for a second from my computer's line out/headphone port. I upgraded from Logitech Z340 to Logitech Z-2200 THX 2.1 Certified speakers and am still getting the crackling sound.
It comes and goes and occurs for about a second. It is not a very loud sound, it is kind of faint but it is noticeable esp. when I'm listening to mp3s or watch dvds.
I have a PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 867 MHz. Is anyone else having this problem?
I did a search in this forum with the keywords "crackling sound problem" but didn't find anything.

It's a static snap crackle pop type of sound that lasts for a second. It occurs on and off and comes and goes.
Am I the only one who experiences that faint annoying sound problem with my MDD PowerMac G4?
I'm not using Pro Equipment or digital recievers, I'm just using computer speakers with a headphone jack.

I have a Dual 1.0 MDD and sometimes hear odd noises coming from my speakers but I don't know if I would describe them the way you have. It may just be that the plug or port is dirty and a quick look and blow could be the fix or that you have a lot of other equipment and the speaker cable isn't shielded well enough to deal with it.

my MDD 867 Dual has no such problem.
Sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere. Or perhaps some other piece of electronics equipment is causing interference?

I don't know if I am describing the sound correctly, by it is like a popping or staticgy noise that lasts for about a second that comes out of my speakers. It is very annoying esp. when I'm watching a concert DVD or listening to mp3s.
My room is packed with electronics.
My MDD Tower is under my desk in the tower compartment(my desk has this space designed and reserved for a tower) and close by under my desk and to the right of the tower compartment are my UPS Powerbackup (got my computer and accessories plugged in it)and further right is my Logitech subwoofer (I'm got the Logitech Z-2200 2.1 THX certified computer speakers!) On my desk resides a digital alarm clock, my Princeton 17 inch CRT, a MS Optical Blue Mouse, a usb floppy drive, a Epson 1260 Perfection Scanner and my Epson 42UX Printer.
The desk next to mines is bro's(his iMac, floppy, Epson 777i Printer, a D-Link router, and our cable modem) He also got digital alarm clock that is control by a satelite or something(it's the one that you don't need to set up or adjust during Daylight Saving time, you just turn it on and that's it.)
There is also a wireless phone in the room.

I've actually posted multiple times on this.
My QS 733 has the same problem. It's like the sound you get when you have your speakers on and plug them into the sound port...those popping sounds as the end is pushed in.
It drives me to distraction. Just out of curiosity, try loading OS 9 and seeing if the speakers still make the same sound.

Yeah that the sound I was trying to discribe!
During the few times I booted into OS 9 (to run Disk Warrior) I don't remember hearing the popping sounds.
Could you post links to the posts concerning this topic that you said you posted multiple times?
thanks
