I bought a great firewire western digital 80gig 7200rpm hard drive last year from Circuit City. Very nice drive, plays very nice with Jaguar and Panther despite the news of drive failures for some. Check out Best Buy & Circuit City before going to a site...

clubmac drives are inexpensive and have good chipsets, also check macsales.com they have a good inexpensive line of external drives. Most economical would be to simply buy an enclosure from newegg.com or wherever else and buy a seperate hard drive of any size and assemble it yourself. Retailers/Manufacturers tend to overcharge for external drives because they are preassembled, and they have to buy the drives they use from another company. All they are is a simple circiut board and a maxtor or seagate drive, when you'd be better off doing some research and selecting your own.
