Hey everyone,

This time last month I bought my first Apple since the IIGS, and now I'm hooked. I have an IBook for in the field, but I'm looking to replace my Windows desktop machine as well. I suppose it's lucky timing for me that the G5 was released just as I made the decision to switch.

Here's my question though...I have a fairly nice, large IBM monitor that I'm currently using. Can this monitor work with the G5's? The Apple Displays are great looking, but I don't know if I can shell out another few hundred dollars on top of the G5 cost.

I appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Yes, it will work with your iBook as well as a G5 desktop.

Thank you so much! The monitor question was really the only thing holding me back from ordering the new machine immediately.

It should work just fine as long as the monitor has a VGA plug (I'm sure it does if it was on a PC) and you have a DVI to VGA adapter with your mac. The DVI to VGA adapter used to come with the G4s, I assume it still comes with the G5.

yes indeedy: the adapter is supplied (since the G5 has only ADC + DVI out)

AH, I consider my old IIGS my first color Mac, even though it wasn't a Mac

As long as the IBM is VGA or DVI it should work OK. Good luck with your G5 I know I love my dualG5
