A mid-range dual G5 would be sweet, as that's what I'm hoping to buy in the spring. A 20-inch iMac, however... I have my doubts. Apart from the simple engineering problems, that would push the iMac even further into pro territory. Apple needs to work on getting the price of these things down, not add features that make them even more expensive.

Of course, if they drop the prices of the 15 and 17, they can do whatever they please with a new model. I'm not gonna stop them. Just give us an entry-level iMac for around $1,000; $1,500 for the 17 with SuperDrive.

I can understand the 20" monitor. But why no processor jump? Though if it is true about a lower price...well...I guess that'll do. It will be interesting to see what will happen tomorrow.

As of 7:30AM EST, the apple store is still up and no 20" iMacs.

I believe the dual 1.8GHz G5 story. I heard about it 4 months ago.
I can't see how a 20" iMac would stand up!

NO NO NO!!! What about price drops on the other models?! Apple, you are so unbelievably STUPID sometimes.

Just what we were all clamoring for: a $2,200 iMac.

Although when you look at it another way...the 20-inch Apple display is $1,299, so really, it's like getting the iMac thrown in for another $900...

I love my 17" iMac screen! 20" is going to be awesome!

However, why they couldn't put a PPC 1.33 or 1.42Ghz in the sucka is beyond me!?!?!?

I mean $700 (Australian) extra just for an extra 3 inches of screen!

This is definitely a luxury item I cannot afford.

My 17" will do me just fine for now

Actually, the 20-inch iMac does make sense after a fashion: before, there were three configs on the page, but no real reason to get the ultimate (which was just a 17" with more RAM and a larger hard drive).

Now what this suggests to me is that there probably won't be any iMac-related surprises at MacWorld San Francisco, but the spring refresh may be interesting...
