The Optical Drive on my faithful Blue Dalmation (600MHz G3, slot loading) appears to be about kaputt.

It used to have a very difficult time ejecting game cds (but oddly, never had issues with music cds...), but now it doesn't even want to load cds. Push 'em in and they go to cd limbo... no loading, no ejecting (hafta use the emergency paperclip eject!).

Cannot part with ol' B. Dally. He's my first Mac ever... and my other Macs will miss him horribly.

Doesn't seem like it would be a very difficult swap... but I've never yanked apart my iMac before!

Suggestions? Warnings? Anything?
