Does anyone know of a way of adding a Firewire/USB2 port array to the FRONT of the G4 Tower (Under the CD tray)?

I really like my sister's G5 as she can easily plug in things without breaking her neck to do so..would like to add that capability to my G4 tower.

any ideas?

This is a kind of DIY port facing for a 5.25" bay, you can pick what ports you want on the facing (USB, Firewire, audio, etc.). Its very PC based, but the FAQ says it should work with a mac with a 5.25" bay. So as long as you don't have a second CD drive in your 1.42, this is one way to do it.

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

I had a similar desire with one of my prior machines, a Quicksilver dual 800. My solution, short of taking a dremel to the front of the case, was a pair of extension cables (one USB, one FireWire) and bringing them out toward the front from under the case (let them it just within the bottom front case handle). Not quite built-in, but cheap and no case damage

Another way is to get (for quicksilver owners) a 3.25" interface bay (they have them) and pop the zip bay cover off.

It won't be pretty but it'll work.. you can always get a silver bay or paint it grey
