i see the single g5 1.8 for sale. i know apple.com no longer sells it but a few online retailers, compusa.com, and maconline.com sell it. it's definitely within my price range. my main usage is for microsoft office and some games.
should i get this now or wait till the revision B of g5's in february or march?
also, i was reading about a person with a g5 and 20-inch apple cinema display where when the machine came out of sleep mode after a few hours to several hours the display wouldn't work or even the g5. is this the only serious problem with g5?
btw: has anyone ordered from maconline.com? they're local to me and i was wondering what peoples' experiences were. tia.

For your usage (which is basically what I use mine for, in addition to light work on PhotoShop Elements 2), I would recommend getting the 1.8 if you can find one - it's a steal.

even a rev-B will have it's share of problems. my 5th generation tibook has loud fans that neraly never turn off (improved with panther though)...
big issues with the current G5's will be fixed by apple. btw, the display problem was presumably by the ATi videocard. my guess is it's solved in the motherboard already (then a rev A.1) or the videocard.
if you can get a good deal take the 1.8, it will be a great machine for you and next month, quarter, year will always bring better, faster and cheaper machines.

I would buy one in a flash at anything close to $1700.

The last few sales on eBay have been in the $1700-$1800 range.
