HI I just upgraded to a Dual 1.8 G5 and have a couple appearance questions.
1. I have calibrated and set up all my display prefs to be the same as before. The brightness is up all the way but my 17" Apple LCD does not seem to be a bright as it was on my G4. Any ideas
2. Is there a way to adjust the drop down menu trasparency? I like them to be more translucent but again they are less on my G5. fyi the G4 I had was a Dual 1 GHz MDD with the original graphics card.

Other than this so far I really like the machine. I don't even hate the keyboard like I thought I would.

I really like the keyboard on mine.

Can't believe how much quieter it is than my old PM 533 G4. Downside to quiet is I can hear the chirp. It sounds about every other second and is just loud enough to be annoying.

I think this may be a result of Panther. Panther has noticeably less transparency in the menus than jaguar did. You could try using a theme app, like Shapeshifter, to change the look if you would like because I noticed many themes have much more transparent menus than standard.

I got my Dual 1.8 last week. Since I had purchased my single 1.8ghz less than 10 days before, I decided to pay the restocking fee and upgrade to the Dually.

Since I made the decision to switch at the last minute, I didn't bother to make a mental note of the speed of the single 1.8 to compare with the dually.

The interior is more impressive. The single 1.8 had this big empty space that is now filled with a 2nd heat sink.

Both units were very quiet. Not like the Windows box I built. When I built a Windowsbox, I wasn't sure about cooling so I put a fan in every open fan position. If I recall, it came to 4 90cm fans and one huge one.

It sounded like I was sitting next to a vacuum cleaner. I had to disconnect the big fan.
