Why does my brand new dualie only burn DVDs at 2X? Shouldn't the drive in it be 4X?

Be sure that your media is specifically labeled to burn faster than 2x when you buy it. I made the mistake of buying some Sony media from Staples that was not labeled at all for a particular speed. It will only burn at 2x.

Which Superdrive do you have? I have the "PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D" in my G5 and it definitely supports 4x.

Just be careful, there's 4x media out there that you will not be able to burn at 4x even though it would seem just right.

Quality is the keyword here, there's some crappy stuff out there, pay attention. There are compatibility lists for each drive, check out which one you have then check out the proper websites.
